In times of complexity and uncertainty, school leaders have access to three critical learning resources that act as lodestones in keeping themselves and those around them more grounded and pointing them toward greater constancy, fairness and integrity.

Today’s school leaders know that, in a world of competing - often diametrically opposed - demands, beliefs, values and imperatives, the stakes attached to our decision-making have never been higher. The complexity of modern-schools and their communities can often create significant dissonance around our own-and others - sense of what is ethically right and wrong in a range of highly-charged situations.
That’s why the SSTUWA is proud to launch Lodestones: The Ethical School Leader Program which will consist of three-days of professional learning for school leaders, spaced over the remainder of 2025. Leaders will have access to three critical learning resources that will act as lodestones in keeping themselves and those around them more grounded.
Day One: Leading for Good - Practical Pathways for Morally Informed Leadership
Day Two: Leading from Strength - Understanding and Harnessing the Powers and Protection of Legislation, Policy, Agreements and the Law
Day Three: Leading for Each Other - Shared Goals of our General Agreement and Award
Each of the three days will work toward building skills, knowledge, and understandings around ethical leadership development. Scenarios and real problems will be the hallmark of this three-day program. This distinctive and relevant focus will be a benefit for Principals, Deputies and Middle Leaders across primary and secondary schools.
Leaders registering to be part of the project will need to commit to a total of three-days of professional learning.
Cohort One: Principals
Cohort Two: Deputies and Associate Principals
Cohort Three: Head of Departments, Head of Learning Areas, Program Coordinators
Funding for Regional Leaders
There is funding allocated to support travel and accommodation for a selected number of regional leader members. Please register to be part of the project and each application will be assessed for funding approval. You will be advised.
