The SSTUWA has had six meetings with Department of Education representatives to commence formal negotiations for a replacement General Agreement. The current Agreement expires on 5 December 2019.
The Department negotiators have re-iterated the state government’s wages policy for 2019-20 which limits wage increases to $1000 per year for each year of the Agreement. As has been the case for several rounds of negotiations now, representatives from Public Sector Labour Relations are present at all negotiating meetings to ensure that budgetary limits are adhered to.
The union has tabled its Log of Claims and has provided details of how we see the operation of specific items contained in the Log. The Principals' Federation of Western Australia has also tabled its Log and explained the rationale for its claim.
As yet the Department has not formally put any position in response to the union’s claim. It is currently waiting for Treasury to respond to the cost items in both claims.
The next meeting is scheduled for 31 October.
