Quad bikes are a major cause of death and serious injury in rural workplaces, including farms.
This National Farm Safety Week (21-26 July 2019), Safe Work Australia is raising awareness of quad bike safety.
The Safe Work Australia website has resources including guidance materials, information sheets, statistics and training information to help manage the risks associated with quad bike use.
Safe Work Australia is urging anyone working with quad bikes to manage the associated health and safety risks and to understand their work health and safety (WHS) obligations.
Farmers can also contact their local WHS regulator for information specific to their location, including training and rebates for the purchase of equipment or an alternative vehicle.
More information, including tips and links to guides on quad bike safety, is available on the Safe Work Australia website.
We will be promoting these through social media throughout National Farm Safety Week and in the coming months.
We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
