Public consultation sessions of our commissioned review into public education have now finished.
The public consultation sessions saw several panel members travel across WA to hear from educators, parents and community leaders and also asked for submissions.
The public consultation sessions and submissions proved extremely successful and we would like to thank all SSTUWA members who attended the consultation sessions or made the time to write a submission.
The review is chaired by Dr Carmen Lawrence, who is joined in the review process by fellow panel members Dr Scott Fitzgerald of Curtin University, Colin Pettit, former Commissioner for Children and Young People and Robyn White, former principal of Perth Modern School. Pamela Pollard, former principal of Victoria Park Primary School, is the executive officer to the panel.
Red eBooks for members are available via our website.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, in line with our ESG policy, and given the short shelf life of the current General Agreement, there will be a limited print run of the 2021 Red Books.
Members requiring a printed version can place an order via the form here.
President Matt Jarman will lead an SSTUWA delegation to honour people killed in workplace accidents.
The event will be held at Solidarity Park near Parliament House on Friday 28 April, which is World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers’ Memorial Day.
The day raises awareness of occupational safety and health and of work-related injuries, diseases and fatalities.
Representatives from WA unions will speak about the loss of loved ones at work and occupational health and safety issues. A service of remembrance will be conducted for those who have died or been injured at work.
The SSTUWA is committed to safety at work. You can find information on WHS issues here.
Thank you to all members who have already filled in the Australian Education Union (AEU) “State of our Schools” survey to tell the AEU about the impact of the teacher shortage crisis, as well as the ever present issues of workload and resource shortfalls.
The survey closes on Friday 5 May, so if you have not yet completed the survey, now is your last chance.
Please let the AEU know your experiences by filling out their national State of Our Schools survey for 2023
The survey will take 10-15 minutes to complete and will provide invaluable data on the impact of the teacher shortage crisis on teachers’ and support staff working conditions and school resourcing.
The AEU know you are busier than ever, but it is vital that they have as many members completing the survey as possible so they can present a clear picture of the true state of staffing and resourcing in our public schools during this time of unprecedented crisis.
By completing the survey you will also have a chance to win a new iPad Pro.
Please note that you may not be able to access the survey through a school Intranet. If that happens please try on a mobile device or home computer.
If you are having trouble with the link you can copy and paste this address into your browser or use a non-networked computer: https://www.ir-surveys.com/cgi-bin/10-166AEU-SoS.htm
