Dear retired member,
Please find the minutes of the recent meeting of the proposed Retired Teachers’ Association of the SSTUWA here.
The next meeting of retired members will be held at the SSTUWA on Monday 8 May at 11am.
An update on development of the rules will be available for discussion and debate. We will also discuss the type of activities that would be of interest to members and meeting dates and times.
There will also be time for members to raise any points that they would like discussion on.
May Day is celebrated every year on 1 May.
May Day recognises the achievements of working people and acknowledges the significance of the eight-hour working day.
This year on Sunday 30 April at Fremantle Esplanade, UnionsWA will be holding an annual May Day celebration for union members and their loved ones. It will include a festival at 10am and a march at 12pm.
To join us at the UnionsWA May Day celebration, RSVP here.
UnionsWA will host a memorial service to commemorate workers who have lost their lives at work.
A religious leader will conduct the service of remembrance for those who have died or been injured at work.
Date and time: 28 April 2023, 10am
Location: Solidarity Park, West Perth.
Further information about the day can be found here.
From the President: The latest results from the annual Australian Principal Occupational Health, Safety and Well-being Survey are of great concern and highlight the strain school leaders are under as they struggle to manage the ever-increasing workloads, demands and expectations of their jobs.
We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
