Public Education Day 2022 is Thursday 26 May.
It is a day to give thanks to the public school teachers, principals and education support staff across Australia who are pivotal in shaping the future of this country. Every child, no matter their background, deserves the best education. That starts with properly-funding public schools to 100 per cent of the Schooling Resource Standard.

Today we honour the Indigenous peoples of this land, the oldest continuing cultures in human history. We reflect on their past mistreatment. We reflect in particular on the mistreatment of those who were Stolen Generations — this blemished chapter in our nation's history.
The above excerpt from Kevin Rudd's 2008 formal apology to Indigenous Australians and the Stolen Generations holds no less weight now than it did 14 years ago.
On National Sorry Day, Thursday 26 May, we remember and acknowledge the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities.
As we head into National Reconciliation Week, Friday 27 May - Friday 3 June, we must be brave, make change and take actions towards achieving reconciliation in Australia.
Visit the National Reconciliation Week website to see ways you can take action.

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
