The SSTUWA supports International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia IDAHOT on Wednesday May 17th 2017. https://idahobit.org.au/
IDAHOT marks the day in 1990 when the World Health Organisation declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder and is about showing your support for same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse (SSAIGD) people in your school community. This year’s IDAHOT focus is on how we can #bebetter allies.
It’s a really simple yet meaningful way to show LGBTI+ students, staff and families that they are an important and valued part of your school community.
The Safe Schools Coalition has free IDAHOT posters that we they can send to schools who request them, so get in touch with them by Friday 5th May at the latest to receive one. oknowles@sscwa.org.au or kdarby@sscwa.org.au
Safe Schools Coalition are also hosting an introductory session online webinar for those who can't attend their face-to-face workshops on Wednesday 10th May, 3.45-5pm Follow the link here to register!
We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live and work. We wish to pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future - and acknowledge the important role all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within Australia. We stand in solidarity.
