Town events

Where towns have multiple schools, members from all worksites should gather together for the stop work action.

  • Members should not go to their worksite/school before the stop work action.
  • Return time for staff back at their worksite/school is 12.30pm in all areas except the Kimberley and Pilbara.
  • Return time for staff back at their worksite/school is 11.30am in the Kimberley and Pilbara.

The list below is a live list and will be updated regularly. Your district organiser will be in touch with the union rep and members at your worksite directly.

If you are organising a local event that we can add to the list below for other members to attend, email campaigns@sstuwa.org.au

Members: If you are asked for comment by local media our advice is to refer them to editor@sstuwa.org.au. We do not encourage members to give media comments themselves because of employer protocols.

Live broadcast

Members can access a live broadcast of the Gloucester Park rally via their TV, computer, iPad or similar device.

Transport

Where available, the use of public transport is strongly encouraged. Visit Transperth Journey Planner to plan your trip. Where public transport is not available, consider carpooling to and from the event.

Posters and poster contest

Break out the cardboard and Textas, and make a poster to show how you feel. (Keep them PG, please.) Bring your poster on the day and hold it high and proud!

Some ideas to get you started:

  • #FixEd
  • Overworked, underfunded, over it
  • Face the facts
  • Respect

Enter the poster contest!

Snap a pic of your poster and DM it to us on Facebook or Instagram (@SSTUWA) or email it to editor@sstuwa.org.au

Ten prizes of $100 vouchers are up for grabs.

We’ll announce the poster winners on our socials shortly after the stop work event.

(Tell us when you submit your poster pic if you don’t want your name disclosed.)

What should I wear?

Please wear your SSTUWA polo, vest or jacket, if you have one.

Remember to dress for the weather, be sun smart, and wear comfy shoes.

Should I bring anything?

Bring anything you may need to eat or drink with you. Food and beverages will not be available at most sites.

Keep an eye on the weather and bring a hat, sunscreen, rain coat or umbrella, if needed.

Also bring your poster (make your own or print one from the member resources section below), your desire to fix education and your union spirit!

Anything you bring should leave with you. Please minimise rubbish and keep the area clean and tidy.
